Sneha has to start her full time job from this Monday. This was her last weekend before she starts a new boring phase of her life. She wanted to make the most of it by going out for a big trip. However she settled with just a weekend trip with little disappointment.
Next important step was to decide the location of the trip. We wanted to take a break from summer heat. Naturally, we started thinking of elevations and finally decided to make a trip to Show low and adjacent White Mountains area. Sneha and I had been to Payson before and this time we wanted to explore something else.
Manish and his parents, Ketan, Sanket, Sneha and I started from Tempe at around 9:30 am. We headed towards Show low and reached there in 3-3.5 hrs. Chilling weather at noon was something new and interesting for us. We stopped at a restaurant to have lunch and without wasting much time, started our journey again towards east. Our first destination was Lyman Lake State Park. This park is located between Springerville and St. Johns. The drive was very scenic and it reminded me of pastures from the movie: Lord of the Rings. We enjoyed a couple of miniature trails at the park and played beside the lake. Apart from all this, I think what we enjoyed the most was the overcast and windy weather. Though, Sneha was disappointed as she had expected thunderstorm and rains and neither of it was in mood to please her.
We left from that place before evening and headed towards our lodge. This lodge was located in Springerville city. The city was a small one with not many people or shops around. We freshened up and had a nice walk towards a nearby Chinese restaurant. After having our dinner and buying a pair of pack of cards went back to our lodge. Weather was pleasingly cold and we did not realize when we reached to our lodge while making fun of each other. After playing few rounds of cards, we all dispersed to our rooms to sleep.
Next morning, we decided to go back half way to Payson and spent some time there near Wood Canyons Lake. As we reached their, we pulled out our cars to the first pull out and enjoyed our view from nice heights. Winding roads, green tall trees and pleasant weather... none of which is available in Tempe was enjoyed at its fullest by all of us.
Later we had a small walk around bank of the lake and watched many people fishing and boating in the lake. It was one of those busy weekend days on that lake. I took my shoes off and immersed my legs in water. I expected it to be very cold but it was pleasant too. After having some photos clicked, we left the lake and went to Payson city. We had our lunch there and made our way back to the hot Tempe.
This trip was short, sweet and enjoyable. We were joyful enough to start our new week and important one with enthusiasm and spirit. :) You can enjoy the trip pics here.
