My first month in USA

Newark, NJ was my port of entry. It was a long 16 hours flight which was not at all tiresome as I had a good company. Then another flight of 5 hours to Phoenix, Arizona. It took me 29 hours to reach my destination (with connection time ofcourse).

I landed in Phoenix on 23rd July, 2008. Tushardada had come to pick me up. Then I spent my best two weeks at his lovely home. The whole day I used to go to college... roaming around campus n searching for jobs.
Struggling to fight my jet lag, Tushardada used to take us out in the evenings. Hotels, shops, cafes, ice cream parlors... we did it all. Daily drive in Dada's BMW car was one of the sparkling early experiences I had here in USA.

Arizona is famous for desert. One can see all types of cactus around. Also far stretched unfertile lands with garnishing of thorny shrubs and palm trees. Not many high storeyed buildings

I was really getting used to that superior lifestyle when I had to move in to my rented flat in Tempe. Now the routine during the day almost remained the same but the evenings were different. I share my flat with three other roommates. Here, we started cooking and performing daily chores. Evenings are spent either shopping for household items, playing volleyball, reading ebooks or chatting with family/friends.

After a month here in AZ, I have mixed emotions of experiencing so many new things and also missing my family back in India.
